Poor Maddy got sick a few weeks ago... I got a call in Florence only to find out that Maddy was throwing up! Daddy took good care of her until I made it back home. She finally got some rest after she had her throne made... On our bed with her new DVD player she got for Christmas from Grandmama and Granddaddy! Complete with Baby Baboo, Bunny Baboo and Bear Baboo, oh, and her barf bowl. What a sorry looking kid!

"I'm a big girl mommy" she says to me as she puts on my pants...

What crazy girls! Underwear makes a great hat ya know! I put the pair on Sarah's head and she didn't even try to get it off! She loves to do whatever Maddy is doing, so she wore it as long as Maddy did.

After waiting her entire life.... Maddy finally saw SNOW!! She watched the news with me and when the weatherman said we'd get snow for sure, Maddy waited all day for it. She almost lost hope, for it was bedtime and still no sign of the good white stuff. We told Maddy that we'd get her out of bed if it did snow, and right before we headed to her room Joseph opened the front door and....

IT WAS SNOWING!!

We got the girls dressed to the best of our ability! After all, we have never experienced snow as a family! We ran around in it and our neighbor took some pictures of us. Maddy was freezing but she LOVED it.

She got her first taste of snow... "Maddy, what did the snow taste like?" "Oh, it tastes like spicey water." There you have it, snow tastes like spicey water... maybe she meant dirty water!!
Sarah was a happy girl, but she had no idea what was going on. This picture shows how much snow is on the lawn after about 15-20 minutes... After we went inside and looked out the window another 10 minutes later, you couldn't even tell that we had been running around outside. All our tracks were covered! So we put the girls to bed and told them we'd build a snowman in the morning...

Much to our shock and amazement.... our yard looked like this when the girls got up!

The backyard...

Maddy was dressed and ready at 8am... but awake much earlier than that!

More front yard, the horses across the street were out, but not in this picture!

The tree in the front looked so pretty! Notice the untouched snow... it sure didn't look like that when Maddy was finished playing in it!

We had about 4-5 inches around our house... It was almost all melted by lunch!

Happiest girl in the world! "Mommy its crunchy!"
She had a blast making snow angels while Sarah watched from the front door. When Maddy finished we started our snowman!
Only Maddy had gloves, so Joseph and I just took turns making small snow balls and rolling them around the yard with our feet. Our hands were freezing! Our snowman was pretty big, but not perfectly shaped...

My Happy Baby!!

Putting the finishing touches on our "SNOWDEN" We don't have the proper supplies for a snowman, so we used a random kitchen utensil for a nose and grapes for eyes and a mouth. I didn't have an extra scarf, so a scrap piece of Cubs material had to do...

The start of a snowball fight....

OOooOOh, Pretty!

We stayed outside and posed next to everything that looked cool. After all, we might never see snow again!
The finished product, and proof that Sarah witnessed the snow as well. She loved watching Maddy run around, but I think she was really confused!

The CUBS fans...

Maddy was so proud of her snowman... she immediately wanted to make another. Upon that request, we insisted that we go inside for some hot chocolate!

Much to my dislike, Maddy refused to go inside, so Joseph took Sarah in, and Maddy and I threw snowballs at the door so Sarah could "play with the snow" and stay warm! She kept trying to get the snow off the glass, it was great... and kind of mean, now that I think about it!

When we were finally ready to come in, Sarah lunged for the snow on the porch when the door opened. She picked up some snow and immediately ate it. She didn't so much like it, (maybe because it was spicey) but she held a piece in her hand for a few minutes. I finally took it away because it had turned into an ice ball, but she cried and cried when I took it. Maddy took off her scarf and a nice little bit of snow fell onto the carpet, so it kept Sarah entertained until it melted. I guess I should have let Sarah crawl in it! Oh well, it's melted now!
Maddy went back outside an hour later and had a blast with her daddy. She got really, REALLY upset when her snowman fell over because he was melting.. Joseph explained that it was getting warmer, so the snow was going away. She got really excited because Joseph used the word WARMER. I've been telling her when it gets WARMER we can go play at the beach... so she was ready to forget the snowman and get her bathing suit on! Oh the mind of a three year old!

  1. How nice to only have gotten a few inches of snow. We have four feet of snow on the ground right now and we are getting more on Monday. We are running out of places to put it. Sigh.

    You have cute girls!
